According to Jackson, D. & Newberry, P. (2016): "The third claim is the conclusion and that the
first and second claims provide independent support for it" (p.72). It will be very confusing to
divide claim one by the third claim. For example, question 1. If this is a dinosaur, then it is
extinct. Therefore, it must be a dinosaur inasmuch as it extinct. claim 3: it must be a dinosaur
inasumch and claim 1: this is a dinosaur. It will be confusing to say that if this is a dinosaur,
therefore, it must be a dinosaur inasmuch. I did learn the importance of connected ideas such as
arguments that support the conclusion.

It is true that is confusing; however, the answer in the back of the book did really help for some
clarification. i do believe that the main key point is to identified the conclusion and supporting
arguments.
Week 2: So, What Are You Inferring?
Sep 6, 2017 10:03am
After reading the chapter, I learned that when something expresses the main point, it represents
the conclusion. Your gums are bleeding, and your tooth aches. So you should go to the dentist
immediately. In this case, you should go to the dentist immediately is the conclusion because it
shows the main point of the sentence. The most important key to identify the conclusion or
premise is to ask our self: “What is the speaker trying to get me to do or believe?” which
represents the conclusion. Premise require asking about the reasons giving to convince the
readers. I also learned that without inference indicators, those two review questions would help
me correctly conclusion and premise.
Let consider the example, your gums are bleeding, and your tooth aches. So you should go to the
dentist immediately. The author gives us two reasons (premises) to see the dentist immediately
because your gums are bleeding, and your tooth aches.
