Should we take the vendor's word for how good their products are? - ✔✔No. We need
to have 3rd party verification.
Governing bodies all over the world are mandating risk management processes. What
does an org have to do to comply with these processes? - ✔✔Compliance includes:
1) auditing
2) monitoring
3) adherence
There used to be a clearly defined border (perimeter) to secure a network. Is that still
the case today? - ✔✔No. Today we say the network is borderless because of the Cloud,
BYOD, IoT, and wireless. Now we need intelligent security that can see the entire
network and all the devices connected to it.
Does slow mean broken? - ✔✔Yes. Security has to be high performance and cannot
slow down the business.
Is complexity the enemy of security? - ✔✔Yes. There is a problem with the point
product approach. A point product is a product that provides a solution to a single
problem rather than addressing all the requirements that might otherwise be met with a
multipurpose or multi-service product. For example, as tele-communications carriers
combine more services, point products that each support one protocol have given way
to multi-service products that support several protocols in one device.
