Mental Health Case: Li Na Chen, Part 2 Guided Reflection Questions Opening Questions How did the simulated experience of Li Na Chen’s case make you feel? I felt more comfortable working with Li Na C... hen the second time. I was more mindful of her situation. I was also happy to see that she had drastically improved during her hospitalization stay. Talk about what went well in the scenario. What went well in the scenario was that she was able to state that she no longer has suicidal ideations or thoughts of self-harm. The patient was also more cooperative during her interview process, than the last interview. Mrs. Chen did not state that she was feeling tired to talk. The patient was also more engaged in the treatment process and asked more questions. Reflecting on Li Na Chen’s case, were there any actions you would do differently? If so, what were these actions and why? Li Na Chen’s case went very well. She appeared to have more confidence and willingness to get better for herself as well as her family. Scenario Analysis Questions* PCC What issues have you identified that could be barriers to a successful discharge plan for Li Na Chen? Once discharged Mrs. Chen may become fearful or anxious that she may regress back into a depressive state. Mrs. Chen may have a hard time adjusting back to a new schedule that involves a partial program. Mrs. Chen may not be compliant with her new medications How would you address the above barriers? The nurse should encourage Mrs. Chen to speak freely on her anxiety with her therapist or in group therapy. As for the issue of adjusting to a new schedule, the nurse should work with her to develop a routine schedule so that she will adapt more easily to the partial program. Frequent education regarding medication, side effects, and effectiveness are essential when starting a new medication. [Show More]
