How does the divine name “I Am” revealed to Moses on the mountain of Horeb/Sinai express the mystery of a god who is both transcendent and immanent? The divine name I am is nothing more than Go... d’s version of saying that he is God. “I AM” simply means I am who I am. This eliminates all questions from his disciples of what his name is. This also then clears up the mystery of God. God manage to do this by telling Moses “God is the God of the fathers, the One who had called and guided the patriarchs in their wanderings”. (bible) With this coming from God it then insist that all people serve the same God. This proves God to be transcendent and immanent by him in that moment committing his faith to his people. When God revealed his name to the people it was almost like an indication that he will always be there for them. Albl, Martin C. Reason, Faith, and Tradition: Explorations in Catholic Theology.
