Community-Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) is a lower respiratory infection that is contracted outside the healthcare system. Several pathogens cause the disease such as Staphylococcus aureus, Haemophilus inf... luenzae, K. pneumoniae, P. aeruginosa, Legionella pneumophila, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and Chlamydia pneumophila, however, Streptococcus pneumoniae remains the predominant pathogen that affects individuals of all ages worldwide (Eshwara, Mukhopadhyay, & Rello, 2020). The clinical manifestation of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) includes but not limited to dyspnea, cough, and fever; elderly patients can present with a nonclassical symptom such as confusion (Eshwara, Mukhopadhyay, & Rello, 2020). According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevent (n.d.), pneumonia can be transmitted through person-to-person contact via respiratory droplet and by inoculation in an infected person. Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) affects individuals of all ages, however, high- risk people such as infants, elderly, and those with the weakened immune system may develop a serious complication. Complications such as meningitis, sepsis, respiratory failure, lung abscess, pleurisy, and kidney failure. Therefore, early antibacterial therapy is needed to reduce mortality and morbidity (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2018; Eshwara, Mukhopadhyay, & Rello, 2020).
