Business > ESSAY > ZX0214_01 Elms, Ethical Perspectives on PG&E's Responsibilities in California (All)
Midterm Instructions: • "Students are required to complete a take-home, written examination covering Part I: Philosophical Approaches to Business Ethics. This exam will be in essay format (5 page... s, double-spaced) asking students to identify their understanding of how various philosophical underpinnings of ethical reasoning apply to business.” • We will not have class that day in order to give you some extra time to complete the exam, but I will have drop-in office hours during our regular class time (just use our regular class link)and during my regular office hours in case you have questions. Please schedule a specific time with me by Calendly if you are interested in meeting during regular office hours. • You have some flexibility in how you'd like to identify your understanding of how the philosophical underpinnings of ethical reasoning apply to business , as I'd like you to be creative in your approach. • For example, you could write about how one, or some, or all of the ethical perspectives we've discussed help you in identifying ethical reasoning (or the lack thereof) in specific business decisions (be sure to use examples--and those examples can be from one or multiple companies, and you can use the assigned business memoirs as examples, as well as the news stories we've discussed and others you've found). • You could also write about recognizing these perspectives in your own ethical reasoning about business activities (again, be sure to use specific business examples). • On the examples and other references: please follow the Chicago Manual of Style's footnote (NOT endnote) format (here is a summary: https://www.citefast.com/styleguide.php?style=Chicago&sec=inte) • On format, the paper must be 5 pages or less (including the footnotes), 1" margins, double-spaced, Times New Roman 12-point font. • Do not include a title page, but be sure to include your full name, section number, and the title of the paper on the first page, number your pages, and post your file to Bb as "last name, title of paper", e.g., Elms, Ethical Perspectives on PG&E's Responsibilities in California (i.e., not just “Elms, Midterm 1”). Rubric (for this and the other two written papers) • The best papers will include: 1. A thesis/theme around which you’ve organized your paper 2. References to the course lectures/readings, as well as additional, quality sources (e.g., follow up on sources cited in the lectures and readings, investigative journalism) 3. Company examples Again, you can use the assigned business memoirs as examples, as well as the news stories we've discussed and others you've found 3. Clear citations to your sources in footnotes Again, see https://www.citefast.com/styleguide.php?style=Chicago&sec=in [Show More]
