Pure AM Signals include the carrier frequency, and does not consist of any signals at the message frequency.. Amplitude modulated signals also include the upper and lower sidebands of their spectrum. The extent that a message modulates a carrier is called the modulation index. It is very important in calculating the signals power between the carrier and sidebands.
