The skill of being able to analyze a multidimensional problem situation from

Apply a fact-based case analysis approach
To differentiate relevant and irrelevant issues:
Ability to focus on the key problems and not the symptoms
To prioritize issues:
Ability to rank issues in terms of their relative importance.
Before an issue is ranked, its relevance must be determined.
Be able to identify to the author’s request, secondly, issues you deem critical to
the case, and pinpoint any major lack of information.

Ability to sort out the information given
Carry out the analysis
Prepare the responses in an efficient way
To show application of various tools for analysis:
Demonstrate throughout the case analysis effective application of requirements,
proven tools and techniques
Choose the best fit technique that matches the case

Introduction
Situation analysis/assess the situation:
Consists of three subsections:
1. Internal environment:
Strategic Mission, vision, strategies and values, objectives and
targets, stakeholder preferences.
Mission statement: where do we compete and how (target
customer, geography, core product, differentiation, corporate
responsibility)? - one sentence. Needs to do the following:
i. Reflect company’s purpose
ii. Provide a basis for allocation the organization’s
resources
iii. Establish a general tone or climate
iv. Facilitate the translation of objectives into a work
structure involving assignment of tasks to responsible
managers
