1. What is the different between simple, compound and comminuted fractures?
The difference between simple, compound and comminuted fractures are:
Simple fractures are the type where there is a clean break of the bone. This type
of fracture does not break the skin. Simple fractures are also known as closed
fractures.
This type of fractures are more common in younger people, before the
bones begin to weaken and become brittle. A primary cause of this type of
fracture has to do with accidents that occur while playing sports. Also,
automobile accidents have a high rate of causing fractured bones.
Compound fractures are the type of fracture in which the bone breaks and
penetrates through the skin. This is also known as an open fracture.
Comminuted Fractures are the type of fracture where the bones break into
multiple fragments. This type of fracture is most prevalent in the elderly because
the bodies bones become weaker and brittle as we age.

2. What are the main types of arthritis? Compare them in terms of etiology, onset
& symptoms?
The main types of arthritis are:
Rheumatoid Arthritis which is explained by 3 combined factors:
1. a mild deficiency of cortisol;
2. a deficiency of dehydro-epi-androsterone (DHEA);
3. an infection caused by organisms, ie: mycoplasma
The onset of Rheumatoid arthritis is typically around age 30 and 60.
Risk factors include family history of RA, smoking and your age. RA is thought to be an
autoimmune disease though the true cause is unknown.
