POWER TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION NETWORK Submitted by: SAMIR BISTA (32379056) OMAR AL SIDAIRI (32829004)1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY As per the given task, we are supposed to work-out an appropriat ... e cable combination and figure out which combination of cable would give load voltage within 5% to the supplied load. We had three loads in our project and we were given two types of cable (chlorine and hydrogen). As per the combination, (3C2) we now had 8 optional arrangements for the cables. After applying all the cable formation in our simulation, we found that all 8 arrangements of cable gave the load voltage within 5% of the supplied load. We assumed that because of less distance and low impedance values of the cable there is not much loss on transmission and effect on load voltage resulting in less difference. The best result was observed when all three cable were hydrogen. We also assumed power factor to be 0.8 and then 0.9. Result were better when power factor in 0.9 than 0.8, which is expected because improved power factor improves the result. Even though, HHH (all hydrogen) cable combination proved to be more efficient in both case of power factor, we do need to consider the cost of this design. As we are assuming the cost to purchase and install the cable to be proportional to the cross-sectional area of the cable, HHH cable configuration was most expensive and ClClCl was most inexpensive, and our choice of configuration considering cost and efficiency is HClCl and ClHH, which will be later discussed in the project [Show More]
