Receiving Jesus as Personal Savior In “A Rose for Emily” by William Faulkner and Langston Hughes “Salvation” both authors showed the main character in the stories. In Langston was saved at ... the age of 13 years. During his salvation, Langston expected something supernatural to happen to him during salvation. In his mind, he expected to see Jesus. Langston expected to feel a great rejuvenation during his salvation. However, all that he expected to happen did not happen; that is why he says in the first sentence “I am not saved”. He had to feign everything, he was scared that everybody had received Jesus and the whole church had shifted its attention on him.
