The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is a book about love, romance, and affairs, that all take place within a single summer in the 1920’s, on the New York coast. However this book goe... s much deeper than what is written on the pages. This book shares with us the decline of the American dream in the early years following World War I. The American dream is the idea that no matter who one is or where one comes from, all have an equal opportunity to achieve success. This success will be achieved through hard work, determination, and non-stop drive to never be complacent with where one is in life. He began by mopping floors and doing work of such manner, but he did not enjoy that at all.
