Answer these questions about Chinese immigrants. (5 points) Why did most Chinese immigrants come to America? (1 point) -They came to America because of the California Gold Rush, and because they lacked opportunity in China. They felt that this was a good time to gain wealth, just as many Americans believed it was. What happened when the railroads were finished? (4 points) -The completion of the railroad allowed for easier travel for goods and people. This allowed families to relocate to new areas, and for wider trade opportunities. B. Answer the following questions about the Triangle Shirtwaist factory disaster. (5 points) What caused the disaster in the Triangle Shirtwaist factory? (3 points) What were the consequences of this event? (2 points) - Several dozen employees of Triangle Shirtwaist, all women and mostly young, died in a fire there, partly because the doors were locked (to prevent employees from leaving early).
