This particular study was about “Evaluation of the effect of drug round tabards on the frequency and type of interruptions, Medical Administration Errors (MAEs), the linearity between interruptions and MAEs, as well as to explore nurses’ experiences with the tabards.” (Journal of Nursing Scholarship, 2014). In a nutshell this means that the study was examining nurses wearing tabards, or signs saying that they were not to be disturbed and looking at percentages of medication errors in comparison to the nurses not wearing these things. There were some positive and negative aspects to this study that I had found. The study was completed with both pre- and post- implementation periods to truly see the before and after effect of using the tabards/signs. The study also examined a total of 313 medication administrations which were completed on all registered nurses. It was completed using mixed methods before and after, quantitative, and on 3 wards of the hospital. I also could propose many conclusions when examining this study. One conclusion that I could draw from reading this study, and the most important one would be that the tabards that the nurses wore throughout the drug administration rounds were effective in the end of the study.
