Rochelle Dea B. Bilon ECE401 CT19-0011 STS Midterm Examination 1. Explain the difference between the Generation Gap then and now. Generation gap is the difference of opinions between another one’s opinion on beliefs, politic and values. The then generation like for example Gen X are more sensible, realistic and practical in decision and idea rather than theological considerations and for now like the Gen Z, are willing to take risks unlike the Gen X who always think of sensible ideas and possibles of the outcome before doing them. Another difference for then and now the is technology, then people isn’t very reliant on technology and is less advanced than now. 2. Discuss the Human Condition before the Common Era. Limit to 5 sentences only. Because of the growing population, people are necessitated to find further resources which cause overhunting, overfishing, over cutting of trees to create more buildings and houses. Aside from that is the formation of communities which expansion is needed and also people to feed which leads to agriculture, because of agriculture several species lose their territory and their food resources. Although from that people are able to find peaceful negotiations where bloodshed and conflict is not needed. This is where trade emerged, constructed goals like obtaining being wealthy, hunting, farming and producing things like crops, poultry, clothing, spices, literature and entertainment with the prospect of profit and the skills along with it if things o not go well with selling products. Also medicine was born, and because of that lots of diseases and sicknesses were prevented. And lastly is technology, which made people’s lives more easier, more comfortably and more enriching as everything is more convenient and requires less physical work to do. 3.Compare: a)mortality rate Morality rate is more common in the now generation as people are more prone to take more risks, technology is in everyones lives now and because of that lots of people are prone to accidents as they are too focused on their phones when crossing the road, while driving. b)average lifespan The average lifespan of a person then compared to now is more longer because of technology people are more occupied on what they watch, read and get from it and also are more reliant on them rather. c)literacy rate Literacy rate is more slower then compare to now as to because of technology people can achieve knowledge easily from the internet and learn things easily from it unlike before technology. d)gross domestic product (GDP) Technology in gross domestic product is widely accepted as to it is the growth factor of countries, cities and regions because it allows progress to more efficient production, goods and services. then (before modern technology existed) and now (technology has become instrumental in our daily lives.) 3.
