BLT ✔✔The threat of a Bad Left Turn in front of us
Fresh Green ✔✔A traffic signal that has just turned green, or walk sign for pedestrians is still lit

Stale Green ✔✔A green light that has been green for a while, or one that you did not see turn
green
Go Point ✔✔We call this out when we can no longer stop safely before it changes yellow. If the
traffic signal turns yellow prior to calling this out in the correct location, we are going through it.
Sneaky Right ✔✔The threat of a car pulling right out in front of you, from a stopped position on
the right.
Tag ✔✔Identifying the threat of a vehicle by location of vehicle, e.g. Tag left (referring to the
car on the left). We call this out if this vehicle may pull out in front of us from either side of the
street
Clear/Tag ✔✔Making sure the intersection is clear if not tag.
Trap ✔✔Anything that slows our forward progress, e.g. stop sign, red light, slowing traffic
Trap 1 (Clear/Tag) ✔✔Applying the brake and checking inside rear view mirror (Mirror 1) while
preparing to stop. Trap 1 Clear if no car is behind us. Trap 1 Tag, if a car is present. Need to
make sure that the vehicles behind us are stopping also. If not, we must tap on the brakes to alert
them know that we are stopping.
Flow Speed ✔✔The average speed that traffic is moving
Wheel Check ✔✔Stopping where you can see some pavement behind the back tires of the car in
front of you
Good To Go ✔✔When we are sitting on the front row at a traffic signal, and the light turns
green, we are going to check traffic to the left (Good), then traffic in front/ BLT threat (To), then
traffic to the right (Go). If clear, we go! (Sitting on the ront row waiting for a Good To Go)
1,2,3 Gas Pedal ✔✔When a traffic light turns green, we wait for the car in front of us to move.
We count off 1,2,3 Gas Pedal before we go. This builds in a safe following distance right way.
Bike Tag ✔✔Anyone on a bike, motorcycle, scooter, moped, etc.
EHP ✔✔Eye Holding Problem; something that gets our attention off the road
Thief ✔✔Someone who steals our safe space right in front of our vehicle (cuts you off)
Foot Tag ✔✔A pedestrian on either side of the road or in the road
Diaper Sniper ✔✔Kids that are under the age of five and younger. A very important tag,
especially in neighborhoods.
Tail-waggers ✔✔Any animal that might run out out into the road in front of us.
Intruders ✔✔Vehicles that move within 3 car lengths of us, creating back pressure in the herd.
Pusher ✔✔Tailgaters who increase intensity from behind us, creating back pressure in the herd.
LSD ✔✔Not the drug! Limited Sight Distance. It is when we can't see more than 10 seconds in
front of us. ("Cant quite see, LSD")
Speed Check # ✔✔Announcing the posted speed limit, checking the car's speedometer and
possible speed adjustment
New Fish ✔✔Merging traffic, usually onto the freeway
Bus Tag ✔✔Any bus that we may encounter on the road, especially school buses.
Flag Tag ✔✔Any construction zone. Be on the lookout for workers and equipment.
