1.0 INTRODUCTION
This is the first unit in this course General Agriculture and it is designed
to enable you to understand the impact of agriculture on the socio
economic development of Nigeria. This unit will briefly explain the
introductory part of the course to you. It will also explain the importance
of Agriculture and for the next two to three hours in going through
details, all the activities will be well explained especially the selfassessment
exercises which are designed to make you understand the
course better in a twinkled of an eye.
At the end of the unit, there are again self-assessment questions which
are meant for you. Please make sure you attend to them so as to master
