Hormones are naturally occurring organic molecules that, at low concentration, possesses ... an influence on physiological processes at low concentrations. Animal hormones are described as being: Synthesized in a discrete organ or tissue Transported to a specific target tissue in the bloodstream At the target tissue, they control a physiological response in a concentration-dependent manner. Plant hormones, although similar to animal hormones in that they are both naturally occurring organic molecules which influence physiological processes at low concentrations, are also quite different from these animal hormones. The site of synthesis and mode of transport of plant hormones is not always clearly localized, but instead, synthesis of plant hormones appears to be more diffuse and therefore cannot be localized to discrete organs, although some tissues can be characterized by higher hormone levels than others. It is also still uncertain as to whether plant hormones act in a concentration debate, with some scientists suggesting that plant hormones do respond to concentration while others argue that it is changing sensitivity of the target cells to the hormone. Evidence exists for both arguments. Lastly, plant hormones possess a multiplicity of effects, with each group of plant hormones known to influence a wide variety of developmental events. These events can also be influenced by more than one hormone group. 2. The evidence suggesting that cell growth induced by IAA is promoted by the decrease in the pH of the cell wall is as follows: In Avena Coleoptiles the pH of the apoplastic or cell wall solution decreases from 5.7 to 4.7 in a time period of 8 to 10 minutes of the application of auxin. This 8 to 10 minute lag https://www.coursehero.com/file/68773453/BIOC-2162-tut-5docx/ This study resource was shar [Show More]
