Is Jesus the Only Way?  The word messiah comes from the Hebrew word for “anointed one.”  word “Christ” is derived from the translation of “messiah” into Greek  Jesus was viewed by His audiences through a lens distorted by misunderstood prophecies and unwarranted expectations  Jesus never said he was God  Another way Jesus claimed to be God is by accepting worship  Every religion makes exclusive claims  Blasphemestoned  Really, instead of all roads leading to Rome, all roads lead to their own exclusive destination and do not even intersect. Weider Ch. 6  Romans 3:23 teaches that we are spiritually lost and in need of salvation.  Romans 6:23 teaches that we deserve to be punished because we have a sinful heart.  Isaiah 64:6a teaches that prior to salvation, even our best deeds or intentions are ineffective to save, and thus any attempt to save our own souls is repulsive to God  Titus 3:5 teaches that there is no possible way to obtain salvation by our good thoughts or by our good deeds. o One who provides the cleansing of our sinful state: God Himself in the form of the Holy Spirit o Mat. 5:3  Penichrosneedy or poor Ptokosutterly impoverished  Matthew 5:3 teaches that the one who approaches God and receives salvation has nothing to offer God in his attempt to persuade God to save him  Ephesians 2:8-9 teaches that no person is able to boast about how they are able to save their own soul because salvation is made available in the form of a gift from God to all who desire to receive His salvation  it is impossible to change your spiritual state by physical means  According to Ephesians 2:8-9, the payment for one's sin must come from a source that is holy, righteous, and absent of any sin whatsoever  We must be in agreement that our sinful state merits judgment and spiritual death. We must concede that we deserve to pay the penalty for our sin.  Romans 5:8 add an interesting glimpse into the gracious heart of God found in the phrase, "while we were yet sinners."  We have to believe that Jesus is 100 percent God  We must believe that Jesus' sacrifice is sufficient in totality, and it is able to provide atonement for our sin.  Romans 10:9-10 says, "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved Ch. 7- Belief versus Commitment  Believing volitionally is an act of the will  Your heart will have remorse over sin.  Your heart will repent for your sin  You will request salvation from sin.  Emotion is based on personality and is no indication of spirituality or of whether or not salvation "took”  This is evidenced in Romans 10:9-10 where we see that when we accept Christ we are responding in two ways. The second way is volitionally—an act of the will.  Salvation is not the Physical Act of Uttering Words in Prayer Form  those who do not accept Christ after they have been presented with the following truths 1. They are not at peace with God. 2. They are in close relationship with God's wrath (Eph 2:3). 3.
