Aaron Dank Lab Instructor: Xingchen Xu Experiment 6: Balance March 21, 2020 Objective The purpose of the experiment is to analyze the force between two wires and determine its relationship wit ... h the product of currents. Description In this experiment, the force between two wires has a proportional relationship to the product of currents and that is determined through the use of the current balance apparatus and laser. In the current balance, there are two wires running in opposite directions and are connected in a series. The current that flows in between the single wire and coil flows in opposite direction and the net force is repulsive. The laser in the experiment is used to mark the the distance between the coil and the wire; the laser marks when the coil and wire are 1.0mm and when they are 2.0mm. Ultimately, the lab will determine force as a function of current and the relationship between force and current. Procedure Part 5: 1. Properly set up and plugin the fluke multimeter 2. Properly set up the laser and bring it into proper alignment and position 3. Properly align the laser with the mark drawn Part 6 1. Turn the flukemeter to DC amperes and and plug into wall 2. Adjust the slider to determine which way increases and decreases current 3. Adjust the mass on the pan and determine the current 4. Repeat steps 3 for when distance between the coil and wire is 2.0mm 5. Take down data Calculations and Data a=1.0mm S1 = . 00007359 [Show More]
