MediSys established an entrepreneurial culture fostering innovating thinking amongst employees. As a result, the company had numerous initiatives at various stages of development- from design to production. The company has applied large finances and resources in a new research and development project called “IntensCare”. The IntensCare project focuses on creating a new patient monitoring system that would collect data on patients and post this information to an electronic data base which would provide an all-encompassing profile of individual patients and a live portal of communication between doctors and nurses. The product developing team who worked on this project consisted of people from several functional areas of the company with diverse backgrounds. The team has been working on this new project and but they have been facing issues with the product design, clinical testing, and meeting production deadline and group dynamics. MediSys had two major competitors within the industry, who had considerable resources, a strong image and were planning to move into the company’s markets and compete with the new IntensCare initiative. In order to be competitive in the market place, the new president, Art Beaumont introduced several changes in the organizational structure such as: new VP committee who will help formulate and implement their new business strategy, vision and execution of new cross-functional teams from different areas of the business who would work together to speed the process of product development and implementation.
