MAT-125 Final Project Name Southern New Hampshire UniversityMAT-125 Final Project 2 Milestone One: Job Offer Comparison Jason Baugh Congratulations on graduating with your bachelor’s degree fro... m Southern New Hampshire University! A new array of opportunities is open to you, but which will you choose, and how will it impact your life? Select your discipline area of interest and examine the set of jobs you have applied to and received offer letters for to determine which one best fits your needs and wants. Employment Opportunity Analysis In this section of your milestone, you will focus on the opportunities presented in the discipline area of interest to you. Compare the opportunity as instructed below: All three jobs offers are in, Los Angeles, New York City (remote job), or San Francisco. I live in Orlando Florida. I would have to relocate for two of the three jobs. I’m currently not willing to relocate for any of the job offers because all three jobs are below the cost of living. According to www.point2homes.com, Los Angeles median income in my age is $51,000. Rent in a normal area 480 Sqft apartment could cost on average $1406.00 a month, not including utilities. In San Francisco, the median income is $78,810. This income is also based on 25-44- year-old. If I had to pick one of the three jobs, and had to relocate, it would have to the concept artist. Concept Artist is the only job that provides a place to live including a decent salary. I feel the job in San Francisco is the only job I could take, and still make an OK living. For the job in LA I would be living below the average income, therefore I probably could notMAT-125 Final Project 3 live there long term. The Web Designer out of New York is also a possibility, I would not have to move, however the salary is still below average for my home of Orlando, where the median income for the ages of 25-44 is $48,000. Source: www.point2homes.com Salary Find the occupational area on BLS.gov and compare the salary ranges for each job. Specifically, answer the following in your comparison: According to BLS; a Graphic Designer in LA should make $25.14 an hour with an average salary of $52,290. Web designer was not listed on BLS, however a web developer was, with an average salary of $28.11 an hour or $58,100.00 a year. Concept Artist was also not listed on BLS, I choice “Arts, design, entertainment, sports, and media occupations. With an average $32.63 an hour and yearly salary of $58,390. After taxes at 30% Graphic Designer $52,290(30)=$15,687. $52,290-$15,290=$36,603. For the web designer, $58,360(.30)=$17,508. $58,360-$17,508=$36,603. Concept Artist, $58,390(.30)=$17,517. $58,390-$17,517=$40,873. With the jobs listed in the same order, after 5 years average salary is $63,340, $91,600, and $71,410. Using the same math formula asMAT-125 Final Project 4 above and taxes at 32% the gross salaries would be; $43,268.80, $62,288.00, and $48,558.80. These numbers are from the same starting salaries. It would be expected that after five years of working with the same company, a raise would be due. However, unless a raise was guaranteed in a contract, I would not include it in a budget plan.
