Grain Coast Corporation has decided to implementation of the company’s web presence to boast
revenue, provide easy access to project status and updates and ease revenue collection for client.
To develop this web portal, project managers will be needed to create the project plan. Included
in this plan will be a work break down structure, managing the potential risk, control strategy and
resource distribution.
Work Breakdown Structure
In successfully executing a project, a work breakdown structure has to be setup. The
work breakdown structure categorizes each element of a project into a chronological order. It
identifies each task and subtasks coherently, sets a schedule completion with milestones and
deliverables. Basically, a work breakdown structure comprises of six main objects:
1. Project objectives presents detailed which includes deliverables that needs to be
completed by specific milestones.
2. It presents an organizational structure for a project and determine which tasks is the
critical path as the foundation for the scheduling of peripheral tasks.
3. It monitors costs of each project and contains the task schedule and all performance
requirements.
4. It uses milestones and reporting to provide status tracking
5. It serves as a communication tool.
6. Puts in place project logic controls.
In most cases, Microsoft Project is the software that is often used for Work Breakdown Structure.
