How does Systematic Racism Play a Role in the Indigenous Communities of Canada The foundation of Canada was not built on honor nor pride, rather, it involved betrayal and hate. The original people o... n Canadian soil are the indigenous people, and instead of being praised, they are denied human rights. These people have experienced systematic racism from the beginning and till this day continue to be a victim of this racism and much more. The government targets indigenous people in multiple ways and this causes these people to be held back in life, with the feeling of being irrelevant to the world. Furthermore, more knowledge regard to indigenous people is a necessity in life as it may help this systematic racism diminish. The time of colonialization has had the biggest effect on indigenous people as many laws were written that stripped their livelihood. In 1876 the Indian Act was imposed by the Parliament of Canada, this was a way to control the indigenous communities. With this act in place and the additional rules added. Such as residential schools becoming mandatory, banning spiritual ceremonies, and the denial of rights to vote, this caused the indigenous people to not excel in life.
