Contemporary Themes in Education Policy
Introduction
The current educations system uses various forms of philosophies. Educational ideologies are statements that give a further understanding of different identified beliefs concerning education for both an individual and a group. The theories can influence the educators on the subjects thought and how to go about it because of the values and beliefs they contain aiming at the overall positive progress of the learners (Wingo, 1974, 356). In the class setting, it is a common thing to see a teacher use more than one ideology when teaching the students a process referred to as Eclecticism. The essential aspect to consider when incorporating the different educational philosophies is the makeup of the classroom community. With the multiple changes in contemporary society, an excellent educator should always keep adapting and expanding his or her knowledge with the changes. This development will help them have successful sessions with their students all through (WH Magazine, 2019). Two categories within the educational ideologies are subject-centered and student-centered. Perennialism and essentialism fall under the subject focused group. The remaining three philosophies; progressivism, Existentialism and Behaviorism fall under the student-centered group.
