CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
This unit describe the skills and knowledge required to work respectfully with people from diverse social and cultural groups and
situations, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
HLTENN002 Apply communication skills in nursing practice
This unit describe the skills and knowledge required to apply effective communication skills with a person, family or carer and with
other healthcare professionals in a variety of health care settings.
Communication skills in nursing practice require using information technology as well as interpersonal skills applied therapeutically
in nursing care and small group discussions.
CHCDIV002 - Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety
The unit describes the skills and knowledge required to identify Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety issues in the
workplace, model cultural safety in own work practice, and develop strategies to enhance cultural safety.
This unit applies to people working in a broad range of roles including those involved in direct client service, program planning,
development and evaluation contexts.
The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand
standards and industry codes of practice.

Training Approach For face to face mode of delivery:
You are expected to attend all classroom sessions
scheduled for this unit. Sessions include lectures that
are teacher led, tutorials where a variety of class
activities, small group work, roleplays, case
studies/scenario analysis and discussions will be
undertaken. The educator will then lead a practical
skill demonstration followed by the opportunity for
you to practice the skills in the simulation lab. You
must attend the scheduled simulation training and
assessment sessions at the campus. Students are
advised that they will be required to do approximate
10 hours per week of unstructured learning.
For blended mode of delivery:
You are expected to undertake the required reading of both the textbook
and the PPTs in your own time before the scheduled class. You are required
to complete the online activities associated with the unit of competency
before the scheduled class. IHNA will provide online lecture material in the
form of lectures and webinars for you to listen prior to the class. The
educator will then lead a practical skill demonstration followed by the
opportunity for you to practice the skills in the simulation lab. You must
attend the scheduled simulation training and assessment sessions at the
campus. An online tutorial will also be held once in a week that is
compulsory for each student to attend. Students are advised that they will
be required to do approximate 20 hours per week of unstructured
learning.
