Haloperidol - Adverse effects: EXTRAPYRAMIDAL MANIFESTATIONS (dystonia, pseudoparkinsonism, akathisia; CNS EFFECTS (seizures, confusion, neuroleptic syndrome) - ANTICHOLINERGIC PROPERTIES/SENSORY A ... DVERSE EFFECTS (increased IOP, blurred vision, dry eyes) - Antipsychotic neuroleptic medication - For treatment of severe agitation and psychotic manifestations Sumatriptan - Antimigraine agent* - May cause coronary vasospasms, ANGINA** (REPORT CHEST PRESSURE OR HEAVY ARMS) - Can cause drowsiness and sedation Amitriptyline - Anticholinergic effects: URINARY RETENTION, dry mouth, urinary hesitancy, blurred vison, sensitivity to light, mydriasis (dilation of the pupil) Tamoxifen - Treatment of breast cancer - Adverse effects: hot flashes (avoid caffeine & spicy foods to prevent), GI irritation (admin w/ food/fluids), vaginal dryness (encourage use of vaginal moisturizers), LEG TENDERNESS*** (at risk for thromboembolism; watch for leg tenderness, swelling, redness, and SOB) Allopurinol - Treatment of gout - Increase dosage each week by 50-100 mg until experience relief; max 800 mg daily - Prolonged use may cause cataracts; get periodic eye exams - Drink WATER*** 2 Liters daily; prevent renal stones/kidney injury (allopurinol eliminated through kidneys) - RASH; hypersensitivity syndrome *** LIFE THREATENING TOXICITY; report to provider; treatment may require hemodialysis or admin of glucocorticoid medications [Show More]
