D1 TASK: Evaluate the use of different methods of producing
engineering drawings including manual and computer aided
methods. Your write up needs to demonstrate a high-level of
reflective writing along with evidences to support any arguments.
TASK 3:
Introduction:
In this technical report, I will evaluate
the diverse methods for producing
Engineering Drawings, some common
examples include; CAD and Manual
Drawings, I am likewise going to give the
benefits and limitations of these drawings
which will help me to assess the
drawings. There are not that numerous
approaches to deliver an accurate
engineering drawing however the most
well-known of all strategies is to
manually draw, rather than utilising
computer aided methods such as
AutoCAD.
Main Body:
What is a “Manual Drawing”?
Manual Drawings are hand drawn engineering drawings with the help of
instruments such as a geometry set.
Manual drawings consist of a number of techniques such as first angle or
third angle projection techniques as well as isometric drawings. An
example of a limitation of these manual drawings would be accuracy in
comparison to the computer aided methods such as CAD. A possible
factor of this would be the occurrence of human error with in the
drawing. However, some may prefer the manual method due its low cost
in setting up and low cost of equipment, in general this method of
producing engineering drawings is inexpensive. Also, when constructing
a full size set-out you can see straight away any shapes, sizes and angles,
this is a great advantage of manual drawings. Moreover, since these
manual drawings are carried out and completed with instruments such as
a ruler or protractor measurements may be less accurate since it only as
the ability to measure to its nearest millimetre (MM) in comparison to
the advanced software of CAD it is much more accurate and reliable.
From the perspective the accuracy of an engineering drawing is critical
as if it is not met a huge amount of money is at stake. When a mistake is
obtained from a manual drawing it is a time-consuming process to
