The following report gains an insight into the public health care sector of New Zealand
by looking into the details of its different domains. The report is divided in 4 main sections that
include scope of public health care, ethical practices and legislations associated with practice in
public health care; Treaty of Waitangi; and roles & responsibilities of public health care.
b) A brief overview of what each sub-section of the report will address
The section discussion about the scope of public health care will address comparison and
contrast of 3 scopes in three nations to highlight their similarities and differences. The next
section will take into account public health legislations, ethical healthcare practices and
significance of applying such practices for solving social problems. It is followed by discussion
on 3 principles of Treaty of Waitangi and their impact on responsibilities & roles of public health
care. The last section is concerned with roles and responsibilities of public health care in New
Zealand.
c) A very brief summary of the findings
The report can be summarised to covey that the scope of public health care includes oral
health, mental health, occupational health and safety, epidemiology, health policy, environmental
health, sexual and reproductive health, and emergency department. Also, it has been inferred that
the 3 principles of Treaty of Waitangi are applied onto roles and responsibilities of public health
care to derive positive outcomes.
