C226 task 2.docx C226: BFP Task 2 Research Purpose and Questions The research study I chose to evaluate is titled, “The First Year as Teachers Assigned to Elementary and Middle-School Special Education Classroomsâ€. The purpose of this study was to gain insight of first year teachers experience and attitudes who took a job in a self-contained classroom designed for students with moderate to severe disabilities. These teachers have been prepared with all current college coursework and career readiness and now their perceptions over the year will be looked at. Specifically, their accomplishments, confidence levels, highlights and lowlights with some of the systemic issues they faced. The overall question that the researchers wanted to examine was “what are the experiences of 10 first-year teachers who graduated from a teacher preparation program emphasizing evidence-based, inclusive practices, but took jobs in separate, special education classrooms designated for students with moderate/severe and/or multiple disabilities?†(Gee, K., & Gonsier-Gerdin, J., 2018). The research question directly relates to the purpose of the study. Both focus on the experience of first year special education teachers. The literature review also correlates to the studies purpose and questions as it provides a background of the theory.
