Physical Security Clients Assessment
Physical security in the most basic sense is just protecting someone or something. Various
circumstances can lead to theft, vandalism, and loss of agency owned items or materials. I will
examine how physical security works and how it can help save an organizationfrom harmful
attacks. The 5 components of security are building security, ground security, access control
systems, perimeter as well as information systems, and tech security. Each of these will be
looked at and seen how they can be of importance in physical security.
Physical Security
Physical security can be something that affects the technology of the company and its
employees. Physical security has several different meanings depending on how it is utilized.
Physical security can protect the individuals of the company, the actual software of the company,
and specific documents that may be detrimental to the companies or organization's well-being.
Protection of information by keeping it in a secure area would be a good example of a restricted
work area and physical perimeter barrier. Physical security has a certain measure that must
happen for it to be successful in protecting the employees or property. Physical barriers on their
own cannot work unless also combined with written protocols and other security measures.
Guidelines for these security measures must be applied and all those within the organization
must adhere to the guidelines forthe organization to be successful.
Physical security helps deter criminal behavior not just from outsiders but from those that work
within the organization. It helps to deter criminal activity from within the facility and on the
grounds of the facility. To be efficient, risk assessments must be conducted. Risk assessments
can look like an advanced math problem. Written out it would look like Risk = ((Means +
Motive) X Opportunity) X Business Impact/Controls. Organizations can use this to be better able
to assess risk and to get a strategic plan in place to deal with any emerging situation. . his risk
assessment will help identify threats vulnerabilities, and plan solutions. These solutions can
deter, detect, and delay “human intruders.” Worker to worker crime can also be a reality when
workers attempt to steal from the company. Physical security for a company is keeping all sorts
of people and unwanted behavior from hurting the organization.
