Executive Summary 1.1 Purpose The purpose of this plan is to provide information about the core business and planned growth of The Nutritional Smoothie Company. 1.2 Business Summary The Nutritional Smoothie Company is a new online retailer providing convenient nutritional smoothies that are specifically designed for pre and post workouts. Each smoothie box contains 7x250g preprepared smoothie packs that customers simply add either milk or water to create a nutritious smoothie on the go. Customers are able to customise their smoothie box by selecting three packs from the premium range and the balance will be made up with a selection from our pre-set flavours which will change each month. The packs will also include nutrition and fitness tips that helps to differentiate itself from competitors and support the idea behind the product. Other USP’s of the business include the natural element of the smoothies and the convenience it offers customers. Prices start from £21.99 each including free delivery and are reduced on a subscription basis which is a 30 day rolling contract. The business targets a niche market and will expand through various strategic marketing strategies with the main emphasis on Facebook where the target customers are mainly active. There are possibilities to expand into new product developments including a premium organic range and snack range. 1.3 Business Name The Nutritional Smoothie Company was chosen as it is straight to the point so that customers can understand the purpose of the business whilst also matching keywords that customers would use in a search engine. 1.4 Type of Business I will initially set up as sole trader due to a number of cost savings I can obtain including a fixed rate of 20% tax charged on anything under £31,875 and there is less of a need for professional accountancy services thus reducing the amount of capital start up needed. I am also able to retain all of the profit which will be reinvested back into the business in order for it to grow. There is a risk associated with this approach as I am not seen as a separate entity from the business so if I incur any debt I am personally liable However, once the business has expanded and is in substantial profit , I will register it as a private limited company that offers limited liability as it reduces my personal risk. This change will mean I can pay a fixed corporation tax rate of 20% unlike being a sole trader that rises to 40% tax on anything over £31,875.
