This substation will provide clean energy to the surrounding utility. 2 Design Specifications To implement the CCW wind farm, we needed at least two transmission lines exiting the substation to ensure stability and safety. The overall objective is to not only find a solution to implement the CCW wind farm substation into the system, but to also find the cheapest addition costs. The costs per mile for a transmission line and transformers,if any, are compared to the reduction in system loss due to the additions over a period of five years. This cost analysis will weigh heavily in deciding which design would be more beneficial for the addition of the CCW wind farm. We must also complete the integration of the new wind farm without any contingency violations. The transmission systems should be designed to operate at specific voltage levels, in this case 138/69kV and with certain current limits. If these limits and voltage levels are outside a certain tolerance it will result in a contingency violation. 3 Design Process 3.1 Base Case Contingency Violations To begin, we first needed to do a contingency analysis of the current system without the CCW wind farm.
