Nursing Reduce Your Fall Risk Falls can be problematic for people of all ages especially for the elderly. Falls can cause serious traumas, for example, bruises, wound, and fractures and it affect parts of the body including the brain, the extremities and the internal organs. Since treatment of fractures is difficult at an older age, the best strategy for elderly population is to teach them how to avoid falls and involve them in determining fall prevention strategies. The Joint Commission created a Speak Up brochure on how to reduce the risk of falling.
