Present day archaeologists are still unearthing artefacts from the 38 square mile tomb. Theories There aren’t many theories around his death because all records point to mercury poisoning (Rushing, 2017) but there are some theories as to why the already large and sprawling tomb was not as large as once thought. The first theory is from Dr. Guo - - - - - - -- - - - - - --- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - due to his son’s interferences in his will being executed and who was to be successor. Hu Hai, the wrongfully appointed successor, murdered not only family and government officials but taxed workers even more than the already proclaimed free labor they must do (Hu Hai, n.d.).
