My name is Neal Braun and I am currently the Continuous Improvement Manager for an automotive metal stamping plant in Ohio for a company called Tower International. The continuous improvement field is very vast and sometimes difficult to explain as different companies call this professional field different things. My previous job had a more specific title, Six Sigma Black Belt, but most use some form of the term continuous improvement. Skills that are required to be a Continuous Improvement professional are process improvements, kaizen projects, six sigma, quality metrics, lean principles, and cost savings (Zippia, 2020). In general terms, I look for areas of waste and determine solutions based on data and metrics. Include an overview of how you perceive yourself professionally. I would perceive myself as a blue-collar worker in a white-collar profession. I started working on the factory floor and never forget that our hourly workers are the backbone of any successful company. My job requires me to spend about 50% of my time on the factory floor and the other 50% at my desk. My experience as a line worker, material analyst, Operations Supervisor and manager have all contributed to who I am as a professional.
