D065 Task 2.docx D065 Task 2 Healthcare Ecosystems D065 INTRODUCTION Clearwater Valley Hospital and Clinics is a 23-bed critical access hospital located in Orofino, ID. This hospital also holds a level 4 trauma designation. Clearwater Valley Hospital and Clinics serves a community of approximately 3,000 people and a county of over 8,500 people. This hospital was previously part of the Essentia Health organization based in Minnesota. In April of 2020, Kootenai Health Organization of North Idaho acquired Clearwater Valley Hospital and Clinics (Purchase of, 2020). The intention of this partnership is to strengthen health care in North-Central Idaho. Kootenai Health has been a transfer hospital for Clearwater Valley for several years. Kootenai Health has also provided cardiopulmonary services to Clearwater Valley Hospital and Clinics. A. Impact on Growth The acquisition of Clearwater Valley Hospital and Clinics will have a significant impact on patient care in the Clearwater region. The purpose of this acquisition was to add a variety of accessible services to the region as well as giving Kootenai Health the opportunity to learn from Clearwater Valleys rural care expertise (Purchase of, 2020). This partnership will allow Clearwater Valley the opportunity to grow its services by providing care that is more specialized to its patients through the collaboration with Kootenai Health. Kootenai Health is located in North-Central Idaho and is a 330 bed community-owned hospital.
