NNA1_TAsk_1_Instructional_Resouces.docx NNA1 – Task 1: Instructional Resources Eight Instructional Resources for English Learners Resource 1: The International Childrens Digital Library Age or Grade Level: K-12 Learning Modality: Digital Language Proficiency Level: LPL 1-5 Connection to Students Home or Culture: Books, Newspapers, Magazines, etc., can be downloaded in the students native language and in English. This gives the learner a connection to their own culture while also learning English. Social/ Academic Language Development: This resource gives English Learners access to all types of reading materials, from picture books, leveled readers, early chapter books, chapter books, young adult books, and academic texts. With all these materials available, the student can read books their peers are enjoying and can also be exposed to academic texts that will enhance their classroom vocabulary in all four language domains: speaking, writing, listening, and reading. Content-Area Learning: This resource gives the learner access to materials in all content-areas of learning in both English and other languages. The student can read/listen about history or current events, do research for a Science Project, find academic texts and materials for Math, and much more. Communicative Activity: This resource can be used by the entire classroom community. For example, I am a Reading/Language Arts and Social Students for 5th grade students.
