It was especially easy for my parents to provide me educational support because they are both teachers. In fact, my mother was my fifth-grade teacher and my father was my sixth-grade teacher. Having parents as teachers contributed to my personal culture because I spent a significant amount of time helping in their classrooms. I was constantly surrounded by education and exposed to hundreds of diverse students. My familys expectations about education and my personal culture has influenced my effectiveness as an educator working with culturally diverse students because I have experience as both a student and an instructional aide in my parents diverse classes. My experience has helped me to better communicate with and connect to diverse individuals.
