All these EHR functions are important in providing quality and accurate information for patient care. A1. The CPOE system is used by treating providers to enter orders electronically. The system will give prompts or alerts to the provider about the order. Some examples of these alerts are when a patient has an allergy to a medication that was ordered or is taking another medication that may have dangerous side affects if taken with the new medication prescribed. The CPOE system improves accuracy and patient safety. The EMAR system is used to record medication given to patients in a hospital setting. This system helps nurses know what medication was already given, how much to give, and when. The nurses can easily find this information by using the EMAR system during a shift change or while covering another nurse for a break or lunch. This system provides help to ensure patient safety in getting the correct medications. The POC system is used by treating providers to enter important health information from the patients visit.
