task2 d155 revised.docx D155 Personal Mastery Reflection Paper WGU D155 Leading With Personal Mastery Personal Mastery Reflection Paper Task one was a fun yet challenging task for me. I have a leadership role at my facility as a house supervisor and honestly was not aware that I was already using some of these power skills in my everyday practice. While determining the most appropriate social and emotional power skill for each scenario, there seemed to be a common theme that could have worked with each, which was active listening, empathy, and being self-aware. Self-awareness is key to a strong and effective leader. A strong set of values is needed to be a strong leader according to Koehle. One of the studies I reviewed stated that leadership is a verb, not a noun because it is what you “do†in your position, not just having the leadership title. The leader must be willing to take charge of their own lifes thoughts, and feelings. The British Hospital had the belief that in order to grow the leader, you must first grow the person. They sought to encourage leadership from anywhere within the organization, not just if you were in an authority position, but their front-line staff also. The hospital believed that as the leader grew, as would the organization (Koehle et al., 2008, p. 172). Improvements within an organization contribute to the overall effectiveness of the facility. Relationship skills are imperative for the engagement and retention of employees, which leads to a better pati. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . .
