More than 40 years ago the term “central science became a term used ... to describe just how chemistry was able to become interconnected to “bridge the physical and life sciences, and the basic sciences with applied disciplines like medicine and engineering (Bertozzi, 2020). Chemistry is the field of science that deals with how things are made or their composition and the properties of those matter sources. Essentially all matter sources are made up of molecules of different chemical elements. Without a proper understanding of the chemical elements, it will prove difficult to gain a proper understanding on the chemical makeup of substances that other branches of science including biology, environmental science, geology, physics, medicine and so many others are made up of. Chemistry has played a major role in the advancement of the field of biology. Biology is widely viewed as the study of all living things. Without chemistry we would not have the knowledge of many of our biological ideas as they are widely centered around chemistry. We would not know that all organisms grow and develop this requiring energy to do so. This energy is formed by processes that have to go through chemical reactions in order to convert food into sugar that our cells need to carry out their roles.
