During the Mursion activity, I learned that I could definitely improve my social-emotional intelligence power skills. This became increasingly more evident as I started to lead my staff through the COVID Pandemic, and this Mursion experience brought it even more to light. Raymond Mullin, RN and Jenna Zielinski, PharmD, reacted to my change proposal with pushback and intimidation, respectively, which required me to reflect on my social-emotional intelligence skills to provide an effective conflict resolution strategy. Raymond lacked empathy and the ability to view anything other than his own perspective and lacked the desire to attempt conflict resolution. Unfortunately, he lacked skills with verbal communication, the ability to adapt, and problem-solve. Raymond was completely resistant to change, had no desire to build a relationship with Jenna or the pharmacy team, and his body language appeared aggravated throughout the Mursion. On the other hand, Jenna Zielinski, PharmD, appeared very timid and reluctant to speak up surrounded by the opposing attitude and resistance of Raymond.
