Authentic Assessment Reflection Paper.edited.docx Authentic Assessment Reflection Paper EED/400 Authentic Assessment Reflection Paper What is the purpose of homework? Many teachers may argue that homework is given to reiterate, or review content already taught, to teach children independence or even for parents to have an active role in their child's education. Whatever the case may be many students feel homework has become overload and stressful. In the article "My Daughter' Homework is Killing Me", author Karl Taro Greenfield seems to agree that homework has become an overload. Karl™s 13-year old daughter, Esmee is in the eighth grade at NYC Lab Middle School for Collaborative studies. Karl and his wife find themselves very concerned with the amount of homework that she receives. As a future educator, I do believe that homework should be given because it™s also a way for teachers to assess student™s knowledge. While homework may a way to allow students to demonstrate independence, apply what they™ve learned and to practice, when is enough-enough. Like Karl, I too feel that the amount of homework given is too much. Imagine your already struggling 4th grader coming home each week with ten or more homework assignments all due by the end of the week and having to study for an assessment given every Friday. I'm a bit taken aback about how much she must complete in such a short amount of time. I was curious to know if she's retaining and learning the content or is, she just going through the motions to get it . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . .
