CJS 221 diversity_and_race_week_1_copy.docx Diversity and Race CJS/221 Diversity and Race Race, Minority, and Inclusion According to Carter (2019), race can be defined as a social construct w... ith the proficiency of dividing people into distinct groups that include ancestral origin, cultural history, and ethnic categorization, among other essential affiliations. The minority are ethnic, racial, or cultural groups that differ from the dominant group in the population. In the American setup, minority groups include Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and Indians. Inclusion is a concept connected to diversity and equity where a group gets included in a society where an understanding gets developed for the stance of treating others fairly and equally. Inclusion is essential for the development of a solid society defined with progress. Prejudice, Discrimination, and Implicit Bias Prejudice is the inclination of developing an unjustified attitude towards someone on the account that they belong to a given group. An example of prejudice manifests in the position of an official holding given views on the opposite gender or even race, which can cloud the position of making critical judgments. In contrast, discrimination is the stance of carrying negative behavior towards a given population based on social class, race, and sex, among other attributes (Carter, 2019). An example of discrimination is the apartheid in South Africa, where the system practiced racial segregation between 1948 to 1994; the law did not allow the blacks. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . .
