Previous research provides a foundation that the doctoral learner can begin to research data and locate gaps in research to develop a path to further research. The literature review also helps the learner answer some questions on the way to collect data, conduct research, and elicit further questions within the area of study. In referencing ten articles, including five from the ten Strategic Points template that was written during a previous class, the learner can better steel oneself against the rigorous research that's needed to finish a doctoral degree. A researcher must be ready to understand the aim, research design, method, sample, data collection instruments, and results of prior research before conducting their research. The research study conducted by Carpi, Ronan, Falconer, and Lents in 2017 utilized a deductive research method. the research aimed to work out changes within the career intentions of scholars in an undergraduate research experience in an underfunded, minority-serving post-secondary institution (Capri, Ronan, Falconer & Lents, 2017). The research method that was used as a quantitative method that employed the utilization of artifacts, program data, and program development.
