Assignment 7.docx INFO321 American Public University INFO321 Part I Purpose of integrity constraints Integrity constraints are the rules put in place to ensure the accuracy of the database. It... is through integrity constraints processes that databases uphold their integrity. Therefore, it is through integrity constraints rules that database systems could be marked as secure. In fact, these rules protect the database against tempering or loss of piece or entire data. There are several integrity constraints that can be found on a logical data model, namely: required model, multiplicity, entity integrity, referential integrity, and general constraint. Required data refers to attributes that always require a value. An attribute cannot have a null value associated with it. For example, a stores database that holds customer information must always have a customer Name associated to hold a value to be able to specifically identify a customer. Multiplicity constraints set the relationship that exist between data within a database. This can be the case of a teacher/student relationship in a schools database. A student can only register for one class with a teacher, but a teacher can have several other students taking the same class. This constraint ensures the accuracy and integrity of the relationship between the class, the students and teacher. Entity integrity ensures that there are no repeated records within the table itself, and that the field that identifies the data always has a value a. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . .
