C947 Paper.docx C947 Curriculum Proposal for BSN Education Western Governors University Executive Summary The scholarly proposal advocates on the need for adopting a curriculum change for a sele... cted course in an undergraduate nursing program in Southern California, through the utilization of the ADDIE Model. For the analysis phase, the curriculum was first identified through collaboration with the Universitys stakeholders. An affinity, need-gap, and force field analysis were conducted to aid in identifying the gap in the selected curriculum. The gap that was identified through the analytical tools revealed the need for additional simulated experiences for the Medical-Surgical 1 course. In the design phase of the proposal, a course syllabus was developed with the incorporation of the curriculum change. Course objectives and student learning outcomes were constructed to align with the Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice, while the teaching strategies and learning materials were based off the Cognitive constructivism learning theory. For the development phase, the creation of the proposed course was initiated by the author and preceptor prior to presenting and collaborating with the stakeholders. Learning resources were identified, scenario-based learning activities, and formative and summative assessments were created to evaluate student understanding and the success of the proposal.
