Before the conflict they were acquaintances but they never had a close relationship but now they do not talk to each other. I believe that the conflict that occurred caused them to drift even more. The conflict occurred at my aunts house last year. We were having a casual family get together so the scene was informal. All of my cousins were in the basement and one of my older cousins was making my baby cousin cry intentionally. She was trying to say mean things and hurt her feelings. My sister saw what was happening and this was not the first time my older cousin had done something like this. My sister went up to my older cousin and started yelling at her for being rude for no reason. They both started arguing back and forth for a few minutes and all of my other cousins were watching. I went up to my baby cousin to comfort her because she was very upset and I wanted to be there for her. Eventually one of my cousins pulled them apart and my aunt went to my older cousin and told her to leave because she cant be treating little children like that. The surface problem in this conflict was that my older cousin was being rude to my younger cousin when she had no reason to be mean to her.
