Currently, there is a controversial topic debating the cost of a college education. There is one side that argues that college should be free, making this an attainable right. The idea sounds terrific; however, many issues could arise and how many people would abuse the system. Should the college system remain as is, or could it be changed for the community's benefit? Would society rise if everyone was educated, and would the pros outweigh the harm it would cause to the taxpayers? This paper aims to demonstrate how free education would burden the economic system and reduce education quality. When looking at Beth Akers article, she covers several views on why college should not be free and how it would cost the taxpayers money. Akers mentions Bernie Sanders and his socialist ideas about making college cost nothing to all during his campaign.
